My love for sports started right around the same time as my interest in journalism and news: middle school. I always watched the evening news with my parents and waited anxiously for the sports report. In high school, I watched the morning news and Good Morning America while getting ready and soon knew it was the career path for me.

Since my high school didn't have a newspaper or TV station, I made my own. I would make my own news updates from home and wrote game recaps after every football game to share with friends.

After completing my general education requirements and an internship with a local rock radio station through a community college, I was lucky enough to find the prestigious university near my hometown had just announced its new journalism program would be starting the following fall semester. 

​

While at UM-Flint, I joined the campus newspaper staff in my second year. I served as a sports reporter and music columnist, eventually earning the ranks of Senior Sports Reporter/Photographer, Web Design Editor, and Social Media Editor for my senior year.

I was passionate about gaining experience in several mediums and during my time at UM-Flint, was able to conquer both print and TV through work with The M-Times and two internship tours at the NBC affiliate, WEYI.

Following my graduation into a flooded job market, I found work with the local NAHL team as their in-arena hostess. It was there that I really fell in love with the game-day operations side of games. I could use my journalism skills outside of a news station and still find a way to be creative.

Since then, I have worked for two NAHL franchises and two FPHL franchises, adding the title of social media manager with the most recent. I spent three and a half years working with a Toronto-based, all-female-run sports media website as a hockey reporter, covering collegiate teams. After a year as a college hockey reporter, I was named co-editor of the NHL section on the website, recruiting and mentoring female hockey writers across the United States and Canada, up until the website wrapped up operations. I have also continued my education in digital media on my own, completing several courses through HubSpot and Hootsuite, with more to follow.

I currently work in Lansing, MI at WILX News 10 as a Digital News Producer. I work the last half of the morning newscast with the AM news team and into the middle of the day with the dayside crew. I gather the stories from the morning newscast and write them in a web-friendly style and add clipped video. Throughout the day, I find newsworthy leads and stories and receive news releases, all to write for the website and for reporters to follow up on/add to later.

I also schedule out local, national, and international stories and social graphics through Social News Desk, set up live streams to social platforms and the station website, anchor the OTT News Now desk, and create social graphics to interact with viewers.
